Enhancing the health, education, and social well-being of low-income and underserved people in the greater Houston metropolitan area through its many health care programs, training programs and community service programs, including the provision of safe, decent and affordable housing for low-income families.

Affordable Housing Program

Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO): As a CHDO for both the City of Houston and Harris County, this allows VNTW to focus on developing decent, quality, and affordable housing for low-income families in the greater Houston area, since 2007.

Golden Bamboo Village I: a 60-unit affordable senior housing apartment complex located in Southwest Houston through a partnership with the Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD) of the City of Houston. The project was funded in part by the City of Houston- HOME Funding Program along with many other donors and funders. The Grand Opening of GBV I was conducted in May 2009 and all of the units are now fully occupied as of March 2010.

Golden Bamboo Village II: a 116-unit multifamily affordable housing project located in Northwest Houston at 12000 N. Gessner Rd., Houston, TX 77040. This housing project will be funded through the Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP) by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA).

Golden Bamboo Village III: a 130-unit senior housing development for Houston residents age 55 or older. The site will be on the west side of Synott Rd, near the intersection of Synott and Bellaire Blvd. GBV III has been passed by the City of Houston City Council for HOME funding and will be also funded through the Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP) by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA).
